A growing cause of concern in today’s public schools revolves around school boards allowing religiously focused Bible classes in public schools. The Establishment Clause of the United States Constitution, separating religious and government entities, would clearly show the unconstitutionality of these classes. These religiously focused Bible classes teach a fundamentalist and literal interpretation of the stories of the Bible. In order for Bible classes to be constitutional, they must be taught within the context of objective history. The Bible classes being taught in many public schools today present only one sectarian interpretation of it. Unless the curricula of these Bible classes are reviewed by outside entities and proven to be objective and historical, these classes must not be offered in America’s public schools.
